Making Waves out of MIDI's!
I've noticed that midi's sound only so-so even on good sound cards or with software synthesis. They often sound like they don't have the right rhythm but if you render them into a wave(wav) files they sound and play much better. You can then burn them to a cd and use for rhythm tracks. I have made cd's of country, rock, surf, and electronica. You can do this with BIAB,WAVmaker, or what I use is Wingroove. http://www.cc.rim.or.jp/~hiroki/english/
The above link is for Wingroove which is shareware. You have to register($20) to render waves I think. It has it's own instrument library. I think with WAVmaker you need to purchase a seperate library.
You can't manipulate the midi's the way you can in BIAB, Cakewalk, etc. although you can change the tempo and basic stuff but just to make waves for burning it works pretty good. Some songs still sound cheesy after rendering and you have to delete them so try to find good midi's to start with. You know the old saying: You can't make chicken soup out of chicken poop!
