In a word, NO!
If you have a Soundblaster Platinum soundcard with the "What you Hear" recording element, you can record to .wav anything you can listen to on your computer or the internet thru a .wav recording program such as Cool Edit or Wave se etc.

Thanks Graham and Ben,
I forgot to mention that I found a site,
'WINGROOV', that converts MIDI to WAV and thought it was 'FREE'. It claimed to be a
shareware program, but once I DL'ed/installed
it I find out they only allow you 30 sec. of MIDI to WAV conversion! Come on!!
So they now want $20 to open up the full program. Phooey on that.
Like a dummy, before, I went and bought the WINZIP software when I 1st found out about ZIP files, and about 2 weeks later my brother-in-law tells me I could have downloaded PKWARE for free.
So now I ask 1st and shoot later [like I always should be doing].
Ben, I'll give 'AudiotoMidi' a try.
Thanks again, all |

Pkware is the company that was the originator of the PKZIP compression. Winzip is a giant leap ahead of Pkware and runs unobtrusively in the background (plus Pkzip is a DOS based program). Winzip should not have anything to do with MP3 files, I think you are confusing what program does what. |

Al, "Zip" is a compression system for primarily for "data" files. Most of the programs that you download are compressed with "Zip". In order to return the downloaded file to it's original form you must have a program to decompress or "unzip" the file and that's where programs such as Winzip come in. The Netzip download demon is a program that will restart downloads if the download gets interrupted or if you get disconnected from your internet connection - when you reconnect it will restart from where it left off, it has nothing to do with what format the download is in. Winamp is primarily an MP3 audio format player and will allow you to find and download MP3 files (Mp3 is a compression system for audio files that maintains fidelity better than a plain "zip" file).
Winamp is a very popular "freeware" program however I don't use it as it's one of those programs that "takes over your PC" and doesn't give you the necessary options (e.g. placing start links in the right click mouse functions, which clutters up the right click mouse options).
