Curious as to preferences of reverb types (plate vs. room). Suggestions and opinions are appreciated. Thanks, Andy.

There are various types in my Transtube Fex. I have programs using all of them but my favorite is the spring.

This is very much a matter of taste.  I like the "hall" sounds, usually, because of their warmth. "Room" is similar, but the echoes are more distinct and usually shorter. Plate is usually a washy (highly diffused) sound, best for sounds with individual, distinct notes (like vocals, flute, and maybe pedal steel!).
I have also found that one type of reverb sounds good in a studio mix but a different setting sounds better through a guitar amplifier. I've also found that one setting sounds good when the band is playing but a different setting works better for the PSG by itself.
The difinitive answer: It Depends. (Did I just muddle things up even more?)

| We use a lot of plate style reverbs on fast atacking instruments like snare drums. Probably not to bad of chicken picken or bluegrass. We have a tendency to use halls more on Vocals and ballads. Guitars with a hall style reverb get a warm fat sound perfect for ballads durring instrumental breaks. These usually translate decent from the studio to the gig. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, don't you have to verb at least once before you can re-verb?
Yeah, I know I'm a smart A$$, but it beats being a dumb A$$
