Old: Waylon, Merle
New: B&D, Wade Hayes

Somehow I have a hard time calling Alan Jackson, George Strait or Ray Price "redneck", Ray. To me, redneck music is hard-edged hard-working hard-drinking kind of stuff. While I love those guys, that's not how I would describe their music.

The first one to come to my mind was Charlie Daniels. We liked to call him "Chucky D." back in high school.

I don't think Ray Wylie meant that song to be very complimentary. It was intended as a slap at Merle and Okie From Muskogee from the party animals in Austin.

Johnny Russell did one of my all time favorites years ago - "Rednecks, White Sox, and Blue Ribbon Beer." For some reason I just love that song to death. Must be my biography I guess

Is Johnny Bush a redneck singer? I sure dig him.

I thought he was a redneck when I was stationed in San Antone. Now people think I am a redneck. So does that make him a redneck squared???

Ray,
I see you noticed!
Just think, if it hadn't been for all the "redneck"/trad' artist there might not have even been any country music. Of course all the "new country" stuff would have been considered "rock-n-roll" or Pop!

Thanks Dave,A lot of guys didn't understand why I started this post.I just don't understand why people forget where they come from and most important why they are where they are.Never-never should anyone loose thier culture no matter what race creede color or religion or non-religion.That sure don't sound like a redneck talking, but when it comes to my traditional country music it is. Ray
