A country news brief today had a story of Garth Brooks being very upset that Faith Hill was chosen to replace Whitney Houston by Burt Bacharach.

I'm not sure if Garth was upset because he thought Faith would up stage him as the only country singer for the medley of film score songs.

No matter...

Just seeing and hearing Dionne Warwick coming out on stage to sing "Alfie" with the Burt Bacharach orchestra... was quite a wonderful surprise...

The newspaper reported this morning that Whitney was "excused" from her portion of the show after showing up for rehearsals "out of it", and being unable to handle the job.
Too bad. That lady can sing.... Now, I don't care much for the material she has to work with, but her voice knocks me out.

Straighten up Donny ....you're leaning!

Poor Garth, you guys give him an awful time.
First heard him in early 1992 and I must admit I liked him.Bought the albums saw him in concert twice and then got so disappointed when it all started to go off the rails.

One thing I must say about todays country music is ,it got me interested in classic country music.I was brought up on Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves but apart from them not too many other American artists were well known over here. The "new country " thing didn't take off here really and so we were left in the cold again and it was "where do we go from here".So we began to look for the REAL thing and boy were we pleased with what we found.THEN we found Dale Watson and that led to finding all those legends he sings about. So I guess you could say Dale should be thankful to Garth for leading us to him!!!!

New News...

The movie project "The Life and Times Of Chris Gains " has been temporarily set aside..

reasons given was a schedule conflict with the writer...

My bet would be that the project is doomed.. maybe because of falling Chris Gains album sales... but that is only a guess on my part and not fact.

A movie would only make sense if it could be released at the height of the popularity of the album release... which was last year.

However.... I did see Garth on the television special performing with his Chris Gains Band... and actually..I was quite impressed with the music.

But I think the hype is over.

I just hate to hear about Whitney Houston's "problems". I've got a dictionary in my mind and when I look up the words "Babe", "Drop Dead Gorgeous",or "Wake up in a Cold Sweat" I see Whitney. What a stunner!
