| You beat me to it Roy. My question is--when the singer tunes to 450, what's a steel player supposed to do? He (who?) did fine and stayed in tune with the band but either Ms. Leigh had monitor problems or she flat out has intonation problems. Ouch! |

She was bad out tonight but I heard her the first time she was on the Opry and she was great. Maybe those tight, slick britches had something to do with it!  |

Poor girl didn't have a clue and I think she spent her last quarter.........tone.I played the Opry a lot of years and the sound was never bad enough that a person couldn't hear some kind of pitch from somebody.If there were monitor problems than all of the singers would have been singing out of tune.Its ashame she didn't sing as good as she looked.  |

ever since the industry (including me) was blind sided by garth brooks (99 mil sold) and dixie chicks they are scrambling. i can just see the suits justifying this one as a female dwight yoakam that will pull in the youth and movie goers. glad i have a day job.

Guess they need to buy one of those fancy vocal tuning machines for the Opry... that way all these new artists can receive the same treatment they get on their records...

Well at least Charlie louvin didn't sound awful. And tommy White showed why he should be where he is. Danni and that

My buddy that does the monitors out there was going crazy trying to help her out.
She kept wandering out of the monitor areas.
I don't think they use side fills out there. |

| It would seem that her dancing coach has more influence over her career at the moment than her vocal coach then. I'm really not looking to run her down. But seriously, her best friend should tell her to get back to fundamentals. If she wants to be known as a singer, she will have to pay attention to the singing. If the tight leather and shaking is what she wants to be remembered for, well, ok. And of course, if this was just one of those nights, well hell, we all have 'em. |

| Yep-she was WAY out in front of the wedges at one point...I've cut 2 albums with Danni and many,many demos...she sang scratch vocals on every song and I never heard her sing sharp like that.I heard a certain little lady sing on there about a year ago that never even got close-she's had a number one record since then!The last time I heard Miss Danni on the Opry she sounded great...everybody has off nights. |

I thought perhaps that the hat was pulled down too far and covering her ears so she couldn't hear the monitors. But she looked and "strutted" good. Really one of her 'not so good' nights.

| That was the worst singing I've ever heard on the Opry. Maybe someone put a pitch shifter on her microphone channel or something. I can't imagine how anyone could sing so far out of key. Not on purpose or by accident. It was way too weird. |

Famous enough I guess.
I've certainly tossed enough chunks myself to cut people some slack. If I judge other musicians to hard I jinx myself.
A couple weeks age I was playing at "The Kniting factory" in NYC and the singer accidently hit some preset on his guitar fx that raised everything a minor third. So the band jumped up to be in tune with his guitar. Then he sang the entire song in the original key ! The backup singer also sang in the original key. It was truly strange sounding. Nobody noticed a thing besides the backup musicians.
