Any of you G tuned Dobro players out there care to share some of your D licks? I'm really tired of the stuff I'm playing and need some fresh ideas. Thanks is advance.

Wish I could be a little more helpful but ...
I am a bit of a beginner - even in G

I did learn Little Martha (in D) by Duane Allman -- took a while as I was trying to play it in G. That was before the nut extension though.

Some D steel licks would be nice ......

Here's hoping

Bill

Gordan you might want to listen to Rueben's Train on Rob Ickes album,Hard Times. It's in D played out of standard G tuning.Check out the D scale on the low end of the neck. All of the open stings fit in the scale making possible alot of different rolls. Being able to include the F# on the 4th fret on the low D string as part of a flow of notes gives it a sound that is similar to a banjo played in D tuning. A good tune to start out with is Spinning Wheel. Just keep the melody down low on the neck. Also those open stings can be played aginst things played higher on the neck creating more possible rolls.Hope this helps.

Thanks guys! Only another player understands when somebody says "Gee, you really sound great" when you know that "I play the same old stuff and I STINK!" Back to the woodshed.
