There is an MSA on eBay for sale. I believe I restored this guitar at one time. I recognize the wrist lever as one that I installed on it. For some reason I cannot access eBay to send a question to the seller. Can someone tell me who the seller is? I surely have his name and address in my database, but can't recall his name.
Lastly, this is surely still a fine instrument and will eventually sell for far more than the small amount currently bid for it. ...Tom |

Regarding the wrist lever change, it is most likely the B to Bb change. This change can be combined with about any other change on the E9th. Maybe even both B's to Bb are on that wrist lever, but I try to discourage the application on more than one actuation on a wrist lever (because of the resistance).
I only put wrist levers on single-necks. Other than one Dekley (that I can recall), all the other wrist levers I ever installed were on MSAs. The phone jack hole (3/8") is used for the axle support, with another support being provided right next to the changer assembly under the guitar. Between those two supports I placed a bellcrank, then connected it to another bellcrank on which the other bellcranks were placed to actuate the changer (sounds complicated, but really isn't). This wrist levers worked very well, but close tolerances must be maintained since there is very little room to install all the parts in that area. The position of the wrist lever at that spot makes actuating the lever the most convenient and easiest to operate. ...Tom [This message was edited by Tom Bradshaw on 10 January 2005 at 08:29 PM.] |

Folks, I WANT THIS GUITAR. I need a new steel, and I specifically want a wood body MSA S-12. And, I use a wrist lever, so since this one already has one, it is perfect for my needs.
I can't afford to spend a lot, so of the bidding on this get's too high, I'll have to pass. There are a lot of great steels available. I'd be very appreciative if you all restrained yourselves fom bidding on this one so I can afford it.

Tom..you know I'm kidding you,but can you make me a "nose"lever to lower my 7th and 4th string.  Tom knows I'm kidding.
Tom did the HOF plaque for me and he did a great job even though I kid him about it.
My wife thought is was great and so do I.

I've just learned that the current high bidder on the guitar is our fellow forumite Susan Alcorn.
My respect for Susan borders on worship. I think's she's a true musical genius.
Moreover, some of you may recall that about a year ago all her gear was stolen.
I WANT the guitar, but she NEEDS it. For me it's a matter of convenience. For her, it's a necessity. Under the circumstances, I feel that the right thing to do is for me to forgo this guitar and let her have it.
Susan, if you're reading this, the guitar (as far as I'm concerned) is yours.
I'll get the next one that pops up. |
