I found a Kline U12, so now I've got to sell my Sho-Bud. It's a real nice guitar. Early 70's. All new Marrs guts in 2003. I think the pickups were rewound by Jerry Wallace. 8 pedals, 7 knee levers. Good case and dust cover. Original finish is pretty good. Just a couple of bar dings.
$2000. includes shipping in the lower 48. I might be interested in a partial trade for a Webb head. Thanks.... Henry

Just letting y'all know I've played this guitar and the Mars retro-fit is real tight and smooth. Quite impressive to be honest. I didn't feel any slop at all. As far as the sound, it's 100% Sho-Bud! Great axe.

Photo, color? If it sounds like a Sho-Bud but plays better, like a Mullen, then I am interested. How many knees?

Thanks for the good word Dave.... I think its kind of a wine red. I'm not sure. I'm kind of color blind. I've got some pictures in my 'puter. I'll try to send them out.
Duncan... I'm pretty sure that Joe Goldmark is the guy you heard on Dave's website. I do play with Dave though. How did you know to link the two of us?

$2,000 for a totally retrofitted Sho-Bud Pro with seven knees? Somebody is going to get a great deal. Classic looks and modern mechanics -- perfect combo.

Hey Henry. just googled "Henry Nagle pedal steel" to see if there were any pictures of your Sho~Bud out there and it came back to Dave Gleason's web site. I really love his music. I am probably going to get a couple of his cd's.

Damn! I've been googled! I bet I could get a record deal or a free pizza or something. I've been validated by the internet! Thanks Duncan. I'm probably on some CIA watchlist now.
No serious offers on the 'Bud yet. Still interested in a Webb too.

Forumite Jon Jaffe has offered to post some pictures for me. Thanks very much Jon!
Credit where credit is due: These pictures were taken by Mike Kowalik who I bought the guitar from. I don't own a digital camera so I have to steal (no pun intended.... really).
Thanks

Here's some history on this guitar, though Tommy Detamore might correct me. But I believe this is the recent ownership history.

If this is the same horn I'm thinking of, I bought this guitar about 3 years ago in Denver CO, and it was a semi-basket case, really grungy. I did a major clean-up on it and Tommy Detamore got it from me. He loved the sound but didn't care for the rack/barrel mechanics. Also, the body had beautiful wood. He sent it to Duane Marrs for a total restoration, and AJ Nelson did a great job on the refinish as well.

I played it at TD's studio... we were doing the first Bobby Flores album... when Tommy got it back and was totally envious. Tommy was gonna keep it, but decided to lessen his steel inventory and sold it to Mike Kowalik. I think TD wanted to buy a new Carter. After a while Mike needed to sell but I wasn't in the position to get it back, even though Mike was selling it for a lot less than Tommy had in it, and less than he (Mike) paid TD for it.

Anyway, I passed on it but later I found another old Professional and sent it up to Duane for a new undercarriage, since the body was mint on it. Otherwise, I would have bought the guitar from Mike since I will have more in my Professional than Mike was asking, and more than Henry is asking now.

Owning this guitar is better than buying a NEW Sho-Bud, IMHO. Frankly, I'm shocked that people are paying almost this much for old Professionals with the obsolete rack and barrel undercarriages when a mint condition guitar with new mechanics is on the market.

I don't have a dog in this hunt, don't know Henry Nagle, and only met Mike Kowalik once that I can recall. I just think it's a shame that this great guitar is slow at selling for what I feel is a VERY FAIR price.

Thanks Herb. Sounds like we're talking about the same guitar although I think the finish is original. I could be wrong as it is in very good shape.

The guitar was refinished by AJ Nelson, who did the finishing for Sho~Bud back in the heyday. Also, Sho~Bud didn't use that type of undercarriage finish. The guitar originally had the green tint paint covering common to that era professional, 1971.
