"...found by a friend of mine at a local yard sale". Was it by any chance at Jody Carver's house? |

Well, I bought the T8. I took it all apart, cleaned it up, reassembled it and restrung it - it's a '57. June of '57 to be exact . . Anybody who tells you one Stringmaster is the same as another never played this one. For some reason it has 10 times the tone and twice the sustain as my '61 D8. Maybe the wood came from a more musically inclined swamp ash tree, maybe the pickups were wound differently - I don't know. But when I AB'd them back and forth the difference was striking. Even my wife thought so - her exact words were "You'll have to turn that down!"
Thank you Leo, thank you Allen, thank you b0b ! I don't know what I'd do without you - the local Guitar Center doesn't carry Stringmasters. The fellers in there don't even know what a Stringmaster is!

The tone might have something to do with the extra wood... seems I've heard people talk about bigger guitars sounding better.
