Blanton style bellcrank experiments
My first try was a complete failure (white knobs), but the second (thumb screws) is seemingly working. This guitar has many other issues, but it was the only instrument I have to test this out. The "carrier" that moves on the thumb screw is free floating, but held in place by the lowering rod. This approach also works on the raises, but is a little finicky. While not as slick as the Blanton or Sierra designs, it does work. It is also way easier to make! I am still figuring out all the nuances of this different approach to tuning. I am using the more modern system, tuning the open notes at the headstock. Once all the stops and springs are properly adjusted, fine tuning is on the bellcrank.
