Oldest player in the world?

Post by John Davis »

Today I paid a visit to the world's oldest steel player unless anyone can prove me different his name is Bernard Mills and he's going to be a 102 on Sunday, He told me when you reach 100 everyone make a fuss of you and you get all sorts of nice telegrams etc but once you re the other side of a 100 nobody Much bothers So in order to put that right I visited him today I gave his guitar a service and put a new set of strings on it and I gave him a card from all of ya,
I think he is now a happy Bunny

Glad to see you playing and doing well Bernard. There's no doubt that you've seen the development of steel guitar from its inception.

Congratulations Bernard! It’s wonderful to see a musician who takes pride in his appearance and his beautiful steel guitar. What a classy dresser you are! I wish you all the best. 😊

Sharp looking man for an old steeler. I congratulate you on staying with this crazy instrument and giving up hope that we have years left to play. My Grandfather lived to be 102. He was an old time fiddler who played square dances and barn dances throughout his life. It makes me smile to see one of our pioneers still active. Thanks for sharing his story.

It looks like he plays banjo also, but we won't hold that against him.

I feel like a piker alongside Mr. Mills: I am only 81! Still trying to play better though.

I play tonight with Western Stars, so I'll be at it once again.

Doesn't look a day over 86! Maybe that's the long-term effects of playing steel? On the other hand, my aunt who lived to 107 and always looked 20 years younger never touched any kind of stringed instrument...

Not a banjo Erv. The guitar stand looks like a 5th string tuner😁
