Very well said: "Never gets old."
As documented by Ron Funk and Bill Ferguson, for a few years in the 80s Emmons would book Bobby's in Fairview Heights, IL after Scotty's annual Christmas Party in St Louis.
(And while on the subject of Bobby Caldwell, I heard for years that all the Nashville guitar players would get together and chip in to pay Bobby's rent in St. Louis so he wouldn't move to Nashville. Does anybody know if that's true or not???)
I thought it might be fun to look at Emmons's December 1987 schedule, or at least what we could find:

Metro Lock & Security, Fairview Heights, IL, former site of: "Bobby's" ca. 1980s
