Concave Neck For Stringed Instruments

Post by Chris Templeton »

I recently made up a card with a picture of my "concave neck for stringed instruments" design.
I think a concave neck for double bass/stand-up bass especially has great potential.
For a classical guitarists, it places the thumb directly behind the neck where it should be. Easier for small hands to access the strings too.
(especially a student) thumb rides up the wall of the neck and sometimes onto the fretboard.
A concave neck does not interfere with any existing techniques.
I've done a prototype with an electric guitar with the truss rod in mind (pic)
My SoundCloud page has more of my material, some Buddy, Jerry, & Speedy and some jazz legends I recorded.
Clicking on a song gives more info about the song.

Similar in idea to the EndurNeck patented by Strandberg guitars for ergonomic playing.

Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous; praise is meet for the upright. Give praise to the Lord with the harp, chant unto Him with the ten-stringed psaltery. Sing unto Him a new song, chant well unto Him with jubilation. For the word of the Lord is true, and all His works are in faithfulness. The Lord loveth mercy and judgement; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.
