Pete Wade

Post by Steve Hinson »

We've lost Pete Wade, prolific session guitar player and former member of the"Cherokee Cowboys",Ray Price's great band...I believe Pete was 89...he had been in hospice care and a facility in Hendersonville,TN...he was one of the all-time greats and he will be missed...

Rest easy, my friend.

Oh my heart is heavy. Pete was such a HUGE help in my musical knowledge; I played many gigs with him on stage and he helped me so much. Rest high on that Mountain Pete; you meant the world to so many. RIP.

Speaking as a guitarist (and I still play a lot of guitar), I think Pete wrote a big chunk of the book of how to play guitar in an ensemble, and especially with steel. Another of the masters gone. RIP.

rest in peace, Pete Wade. an amazing person, player, and what a career!

I took the time to watch his 2016 Nashville Cats interview which I missed the first time around. right at 45 mins, there's an old Pet Milk Opry clip of The Cherokee Cowboys with Pete, Buddy, and Shorty Lavender on fiddle doing a hot rendition of Raisin The Dickens:
