Regal RD-40 cone recommendations?

Post by Richard Sinkler »

I have a Regal RD-40 squareneck and would like to maybe upgrade the cone. Any recommendations that will just drop in without having to modify the opening?

I’d call the guys at Beard. They’ve probably done as many set ups on various brands as anyone. They can tell you if the Beard cones fit. I believe the Scheerhorn cone is smaller by a few fractions.
A banjo, like a pet monkey, seems like a good idea at first.

Good idea, Brooks. I've also thought about calling Elderly. That's where I bought it.

Quaterman used to make a 10 1/2 cone to fit imports, but I don't know if he's still doing them or if you can find one.

Most of the other high end cones I know of are 10 9/16. I've used a few of them by sanding them down to fit.

Continental (European) makes a 10.5 inch cone as does Resplogle (US). You may have a Continental now; Elderly should know
