I've got small hands and this is a 1 inch bar. That bar Pete's holding really does look almost 'novelty bar' huge.

Yes... Pete used an oversized bar. To my recollection it was a bit larger than 1".

Maybe his finest recorded solo. A true unicorn. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CG1nnkq4QbQ

Outstanding!... I thought I knew most everything they did, but never heard their version of Diggy Lo, one of my all time favorite songs by any artist..

You know, making a Telecaster sound like a pedal steel is no big deal any more, lots of good players around the world are doing that every day... However, try making a pedal steel sound like a tele.. Not that easy... Pete was doing that more than 50 years ago with the FBB, as many versions of that band had no real lead guitarist,... Pete does some very good, convincing tele style comping behind the vocals in a lot of their stuff and this one was a standout.. The tone of the "guitar parts" as well as the steel parts is all Fender , unmistakable... oh yeah, the solo was magnificent too... Boy what a unique tone and touch he had.. One single note and you know exactly who the steel player is with Pete.. A lot of great players influenced me long ago, but I must say, none more so than Pete!.... bob

Must be later FBB with cajun fiddle man Gib Gilbeau. I have one of Gib's LPs from way back when.

Pete is cookin' on this one too.
