Supro dual 6

I have a white Supro dual 6 with 4 legs and not much more info other than its all original and pickups sound amazing. I've moved over to the pedal steel now and may sell it. I don't see these around much so wondering if they are sought after, or what $ it may fetch.

As one who only delved into lap steel only after playing pedal steel for a decade or so, my advice would be to hang on to it. These days, I don't even have a pedal guitar set up, but I'm constantly doodling on a lap steel or two.

Your Supro looks like a nice one, and D6s are relatively uncommon. I use a special Deluxe34 to mimic a double-six:

Hey Jack, Thx for the response. Yes I'm still deciding on what to do with it...
I do have another single 6 lap steel that I use but just haven't brought the dual out since I started playing pedal steel.
Looks like your setup does the trick too!
Right now I have a sd10 pedal steel so I set the lap steel on it when i need the lap sound for a show. Thx again, Cheers!

John, that is a really nice later one with 4 legs and that color scheme is somewhat rare and very striking. Great shape too, and case...
That is just about the perfect double neck for a rootsy rock or blues player.

Aside from potentially rekindling interest in non-pedal playing in the future like Jack said, I think another reason to keep it is that even though Valco made tons of guitars, they are undervalued IMO and people may catch on eventually. Lesser alternatives go for more money.
I believe you when you say it sounds amazing!

I would try to get at least 800 US for it or slightly less best offer for it, if it had to be sold.
Some of the earlier pearloid suckers in worse shape may sell for less, but the condition, domino scheme and legs are a plus in my book.
I would try to hold on to it unless you need the cash, I've been there and been pushed to sell some nice stuff I regret letting go...

One thing you should check out on Valco guitars is whether any of the magnets are dummies, not the end of the world, but good to know:

Hey thanks for the reply Joe,
I played this guitar in a roots/rock band with a fender deluxe reverb for a few years and it was definately a hit!
I hear you about hanging on to it...but I have a lot of guitars lol and am thinking one single lap steel may be enough for me to gig with. There is also another guitar I'm looking at that would take selling a few to make it happen Smile

For reference, here's a recently ended auction for a single neck Supro, with case and legs. I was watching this auction, hoping to snag it for $500. Not a chance.

I think yours could easily go for $1k or more.

30 to 40 years go, I’d start the morning in Tacoma, hit the pawn shops, and work my way through Seattle. By late afternoon I’d be finishing up in Everett.
Now some days you strike out, but other days I’d come home with a nice old
Magnatone for $50. I still have that. The bonus was the tone bars and picks.

Lord Have Mercy, $1500 for a Supro Jet Airliner? I think that's an outlier, I don't think that's indicative of the current market for these. For reference, I bought an identical model in great shape with the case, legs & 2 Stevens bars just last summer for $400. I love Supros, and the Jet Airliner is particularly near and dear to me, since a Jet Airliner was my first steel guitar when I was a lad.

If I were to guess a reasonable price on the Supro Double-6 in question, I'd say somewhere between $600 and $900.

That sounds about right to me. It's a very nice guitar, and if I wasn't saving up for a Sho-Bud, then I'd sure be interested in buying it. Good luck with the sale, that is, if you decide to sell it. However, I put in a vote for keepin' it.
