That nurd singing Honky Tonk Blues is as clueless as Pat Boone singing Tutti Frutti.

THANKS! That's very cool.
Speedy could "comp" and backup like a champ.

He's singing as if he never heard Hank Williams' version but was sight reading the melody and lyrics from a publishing company's lead sheet.

BTW, Chris: If that's your playing on "Aura Lee" and others on your Tapsteel songlist, you play magnificently. Smile

Herb-"Aura Lee " is played by Buddy. He called it "Aura Lee" not "Love Me Tender", because of royalties.
Thank you for your complement about other songs, it means a lot to me coming from you!
Here's a long one, I just posted, I wrote for my Dad, called "Waiting". Buddy plays on the second half:

The melody is very old. And Aura Lee is the original title. You're probably correct in the royalties issue, I would venture to say, the original title is PD.

I can't i.d. them all, but "Setting The Woods On Fire" is Jo Stafford and Frankie Laine; "Oakie Boogie" is Ella Mae Morse; "I'll Never Be Free" is Tennessee Ernie Ford and Kay Starr; and "Y'All Come" is Bing Crosby.

I'm surprised he didn't include "Tennessee Newsboy (The Newsboy Blues)" for Frank Sinatra (reportedly done under duress when Mitch Miller was head of A&R at Columbia).

Good audio quality clips of all of these are on YouTube.
