Pedal Steel Guitarist & my musical brother, Alvin Davis passed away Saturday, January 27, 2024. I met Alvin and his wife Cheryl in 1972 and we became lifelong friends/family. They were a brother and sister to me; my children have always addressed them as Aunt Cheryl and Uncle Alvin. Alvin took up pedal steel guitar in the early 70's and he took lessons from Big Joe Green when he first started. Alvin was a member of several regional groups over the years, but his and Cheryl's band Powered, Flint and Steel was IMO the most notable. Alvin was an outstanding automobile mechanic. He also played 6-string guitar and he wrote lyrics, poems and stories all of which he was reluctant to share. I have drunk hundreds of cups of coffee at their kitchen table, (I don't even care for coffee.), ate a ton of biscuits and gravy, and discussed and cussed the music business endlessly. I look forward to the day we are ALL in Heaven together and resuming life in a better place.
