Ted, just to let you know I am listening daily. I do wish the song titles would display somewhere during the song. They do at times but not constantly. Seems like any time I really want to know who's playing is when it way behind and don't advance. It's one of those things. Love the music. Thank you for streaming this great music.
Thanks for your post. First, we're so glad you're listening on a regular basis! We're just getting started and plan for lots of growth in 2024, continuing to add songs to the music airplay library and add more hosted shows.
The song display is very important to me. We are working on it. There are two software / hardware issues I've been working on for a few months that have really slowed us down, and are not quite resolved. Those issues may or may not be related to the song display, but again, it's important.
Here is what I can tell you:
- I am coding each song with the steeler or dobro player if it's not obvious. If the picker isn't listed, I probably haven't verified the info yet.
- album art: that is obtained by the different playout platforms, some draw from Apple iTunes, others get info elsewhere. So, even though each song is coded with the album info, that is still a weak point that will take time to improve. We have very little control over this, especially as much of the music we play is not "mainstream."
- Song listings:
-The SteelRadio.org website will list the most recent twelve (12) songs played (with a time stamp), but you have to refresh the page for the most recent list, as unfortunately our site does not automatically refresh the list. The pop-up player from the website displays six (6) titles in real time.
- Apple iOS mobile app, there was a recent update to the app, it was supposed to resolve the issue somewhat, but it is still clunky. It generally displays the six (6) most recently played songs, and is supposed to display in real time, but it is inconsistent and gets "stuck." I have to restart the app or fiddle with it way too much. If you use the Apple app, you might try downloading the updated version from the Apple App Store.
- Android, I do not have an Android device to monitor Android performance.
So, that's a lot of information, but I want folks to know we are aware and working on it. My goal is to have SteelRadio run and operate for our listeners as efficiently as possible with the best song information we can provide.
All a work in process, but I'm so glad we are on the air and getting lots of support from listeners as we go through our growing pains.
Ted, I understand your reasoning and I thank you for the information. I am using Android so that adds to the issues. Depending on which tablet I use,some players don't have a page to update, others do. No matter it's not a big deal. I just look for the player when some hot licks turn my head. I appreciate all you're doing.
