Can any Robostar owner (or other recent Excel steel owners with the same design?) help me understand how to adjust the pedal stops?
As far as I can see, the movement of the rod is restricted by a bolt moving from side to side inside a hole in the aluminum body?
Do the two screws in the photos somehow allow adjustment?

I had the same question, and asked Mitsuo - there aren't adjustments, and you are correct that the bolt in the hole is the travel stop.
On my Robostar I wanted to have less slack in the pedals before they engaged the changer, and a simple solution was to glue little 3M 'bumpers' (kind of like these: https://www.scotchbrand.com/3M/en_US/p/d/cbgnarus2443/) to the underside of the guitar, so that the pedal crank doesn't pull back as close to the body when the pedals are released.
Must have been lucky because the first size I found took out 95% of the slack and don't interfere with anything in the range that actually activates the changer.
I suspect that it might be possible to tweak the helper springs to achieve this but I didn't want to mess up anything and this worked perfectly.

Yeah, I don't think it's really adjustable.
This is one change that Mitsuo has made that I'm not really on board with.
My 2008 Superb has concentrically mounted pucks, you can turn the puck any direction to adjust where the pedal bracket stops.
He also does this non-adjustable thing with the knees - the travel is stopped my a bolt hitting the inside of a hole with no adjustment.

Thanks Stew and Mike, for confirming what I was starting to suspect: no adjustment possible.
In my case, I was trying to optimize pedal heights. On my Sho-Bud I would adjust the stops as part of this.
So it goes!

To adjust pedal height, use the adjusters on the pedal rod connectors. _________________ Make sleeping dogs tell the truth!

My ExStar just arrived and it has the same pucks as on your Suberb. Given the Robostar is available at a cheaper price point, my guess is Mitsuo left that out to help with keeping costs down. |
