A little 12/8 version of Sweet and Lovely, an old standard.

MSA S12 Bb6 Studio Pro, Telonics everything…

I hope you like it - recording from morning practice

I dig it, cool song that I didn't know about. Your tone is killer, and your chops too. Your soloing is better and better everytime I hear you, really like hearing you play. Keep up the great work. Catt

Thank you, Steve - I had hoped you’d give it a listen, and I appreciate the kind words, very much. It came out ok, so I dared post it here…

This tune is usually done by older swing or Dixie players, as a medium slow swing, but my trombone buddy John Moak suggested the 12/8 for our group, and I like it. We usually do swing on the bridge, but I didn’t want to create a backing track just for this - the 12 feel is fine…

Wow Christopher, really nice! And that 12/8 gives it a whole new dimension - that kind of stirring underneath.

Thank you, Susan! I appreciate you having a listen

It’s always interesting, to me, how much a change of groove not only makes the song different, it also leads to different harmonic and melodic improvisational choices. Freshens up an old familiar tune, for me.
