Hey folks,

I have had the distinct pleasure to be working with some long time Cleveland musicians for a couple upcoming shows. The bass player and drummer were members of the legendary Deadly Earnest and The Honkytonk Heroes.

Bill, the bass player just gave me a live cd from the early 80's, when the band was hired to back Buddy Emmons... Wow, I was floored. Buddy and the band sound great.

He told me it was recorded on a stereo cassette deck with the onboard mikes. It is quite listenable though, obviously not super hifi...

Here is a link to this recording, Enjoy Very Happy -

Yes sir.

We need everything steel guitar out there for all to see and hear and NO CHARGE.

Anything we can do to keep the steel guitar alive and encourage new players.
Otherwise, it will disappear and quickly.

Yes! I remember seeing him a few times in that time period playing gigs with local house bands from whatever area he was playing in. I saw him once in Mattoon IL. and he was also up in the Chicago area, but I don't recall the name of the town. I think it was in the northern part of Chicago.

I figured sharing it with the world would be a good thing! I checked with Bill Watson, the bass player who recorded this show, and he said absolutely go for it.

One question though, should I check with Ernie Renn and see if Buddy's estate is ok with the idea of presenting this show to the public as a free archive?

I have sent a message to Ernie Renn to assure that Buddy's estate will be fine with this. Hopefully it will, and I will get these posted!

Yeah, I guess it did sound like a trick question! Very Happy

Ernie Renn got back to me and said to go for it.

He has not had any contact with Buddy's estate/family since Buddy passed, and thought that if they are unhappy with it being made public, they can simply ask me to take it down, which I will.

I should have it published on my site sometime next week, thanks for all the encouragement!
