Here is a recently rebuilt late 1940s - early 1950s Gibson BR-9 lap steel. When I got it, the original tuners, nut, fingerrest, and guts were long gone. Cheapo imported tuners had been installed. It did have its original bridge and fretboard.
Before:
After:
Like many (if not most) BR-9s I've run across, the paint has gone missing from the butt end.
Like many BR-9s, there is a slight twist in the neck/headstock. Not enough to cause problems, in my opinion.
Obtained and installed an original Gibson nut. New Gotoh SD-90 strip tuners were installed.
It features a new Sentell P-90 adjustable pole pickup with a tortoise bobbin top. Scarce brown Gibson #481 knobs. Top quality pots and tone cap, push-back wiring, and Switchcraft #11 output jack. Cavity and control plate fully shielded -- as quiet as a church mouse peeing on a cottonball.
Currently set up in G6 (G-B-D-E-G-B) tuning.
First $400.00 gets it delivered to your door via USPS in the lower 48 only.

This thing really honks with its low tuning. However, I will string it up for whatever tuning a buyer desires if so requested. |
