these Country Music Time radio shows are a real goldmine of classic country sounds, with Hal Rugg behind the steel among others.

Thanks for sharing. That was really great. One of the greats and what a fat tone he had there. Whenever Hal played bluesy laid back single note lines I always wondered how much he had listened to Miles Davis’s early work.

Does that amp humming while Claude is talking make anyone else feel warm and nostalgic? Laughing You’d never get away with that on a recording today.

That's some cool stuff. Hal could easily play the classic tunes or some complex jazz at any show. Definitely a 1st class pro steeler. I seen Hal perform at many steel shows for a number of years. A wonderful experience for me.
