The sound of my pedal steel to my ears is affected by several things that have a much more effect on it than leg construction material and weight.

Just the position and direction of the aim of the speaker in relation to my ears has a great effect.

As has been said, "everything has an effect".

I had bad experiences with lightweight legs. Some of the chrome plating flaked off in less than a year. My guitar (74 Emmons pp) wiggled when I engaged the knee levers. I thought the tone was not quiet as good. If anybody can use like new legs except for some of the chrome flaking, make me an offer. I only used them on one gig.
