I used to have several copies of the factory-issued instruction sheet; now I can't find one.

I almost remember the steps but I've run into trouble on my 5th string since I removed the B to A lower the other day.

Does anyone have a copy they could scan and share, please?

Tune open string at keyhead
Tune raise normally @ R endplate
Tune split w raise and lower engaged w original lowering hex
Tune final lower w allen screw behind changer

Just remember - this only works if you're not lowering the string twice (ie-5th string to a Bb and an A. If you are lowering it twice you need an additional rod).

Thanks, Jim!

That was the problem - I was lowering 5 to an A using an extra rod (LG only has two lowers), but I moved the LKV to raise the 6th a whole step. I backed off that third rod that facilitated the two lowers. After I'd done that, the split-tune on my B to Bb and A pedal had become out of tune.

Fixed now, thanks to you. I'll remember that sequence. Smile

I'll leave that redundant rod there in case I change my mind, but I doubt I will.

The procedure Jim posted, tuning the lower split first, is also the written procedure on a Zum, and probably others.

I had tunable splits on my Franklin (5th and 6th strings) with stop screws, like the Emmons and others, (only Franklin with the screws). I could tune the split first or the full lower first, made no difference.
