Had this a couple months already. Great guitar. Has a Sentell Dog Ear style Humbucker. Volume knob pulls up to split the coils, my choice. Bob will also install a lever switch. Chose this pickup looking for more growl than the SS10 and to my ears got it. It is Cherrywood with dark oak stain. I think it came out real nice. Works great with effects. Play it through a TM Blonde Deluxe Reverb and a MXR Carbon Copy,a Hilton VP and am very happy with the TM reverb. I chose the fretboard just because. Turns out it really lights up on a dark stage.Love this guitar. All I need. For now!!! LOL

Not liking what I hear recording with my phone. This is a lapsteel pu. The SS10 is more of a pedal steel pu and works very well. What I wanted and got with the Sentell was more warmth and thickness and some growl, not so clean. Splitting the coils you lose some power but the guitar comes with a volume knob and a tweak on that changes sound drastically. No regrets with this pu.

Beautiful guitar Mike!
Do you have any sound samples of the Sentell? I am looking into ordering a Melbert guitar as well but can't seem to find demos of the Sentell dog ear online. |
