Laughing I changed the title of the thread and hopefully it lightens things up a little.

It is with regret that I am postponing this project indefinitely.

I know it would have been great but I am not confident that it would have made it past the funding phase.
I want to thank everyone for expressing their support.

I’m going to focus my energy on creating new instructional materials to help further the cause for jazz on the lap steel.

I have no doubts that it will be amazing! Can't wait to hear it!!

Did you ever get into Herbie Nichols? I am sure you have. Smile Kind of in the same vein as Monk. There is an amazing guitar album tribute by Duck Baker. Thats how I found out about him. Duck also has Monk album. All solo. Two massively overlooked geniuses.

Bill, it was a tough decision, but to be honest not as tough as the realization that my music performing career is coming to an end. It wasn’t easy for me to get the project and the band off the ground in the first place back in 2016 and then to book gigs, and unfortunately it has become even more difficult now and there doesn’t seem to be much interest in the niche that I fill. It won’t stop me from furthering my pursuit, but it is not a sustainable venture.

C’est la vie.

No worries but I'm down for some one to tackle alternate voicings which most C6th stuff I am hearing uses a similar 6th approach. My world has been shaken when you told me the best advice to listen to keys. They're voicings and voice leading and overall approach to harmony sounds cosmic, exciting and then they pull it back when the harmony needs to be established.

So I'm definitely interested in buying anything you have on reharmonising standard tunes with alternate chords. Its not been done IMHO. And YOU DEAR SIR can do it. If you're interested

2 ideas that would sell like hot cakes are probably

Jimi hendrix/stevie ray vaughn/ guns n roses/rock blues on lap steel - As We all know how sad most lap steel rock solos are. They sound like the equivalent of a guitarist riding poorly on 2 or 3 strings with terrible technique and intonation

Buddy Emmons jazz and country- on lap steel (extremely tall order and may take years of transcribing and even more years under the bar to get it)

I think there is a definite need for an in depth C6 lap steel course. Since getting a pedal steel, I've been amazed how much great tutorial material is out there for the E9th neck. I subscribed to both Paul Franklin's Method and Travis Toy's tutorials. But, other than some Lessons with Troy stuff, there really isn't a lot of in depth C6 lap steel video instruction.

Who knows what will happen down the road, but if I can afford to make a project happen I definitely will. I don’t really have expectations anymore except to put some good music out into the world. I’m not going anywhere, I’m just not going anywhere. Figure that one out. Laughing

Hey Mike. I can relate to the challenges you've faced, both pre-covid and post(?)-covid. But I know anything you put your energies into will be high quality.
All best,
