Looking for 2 gold or brass machine screws to attach the Fender badge below to a solid-body six-string guitar. The badge is paper-thin and sits flush on the guitar so wood screws aren't right. There are Fender and Gibson pickguard screws on the internet that look OK but I really don't need a bag of 20, only 2.
Appreciate any other suggestions for mounting the plate - thanks!

What is that plate from? Something from the 1990s? I don't recognize the colors.
From my experience, Fender metal badges were mounted with half round head or domed nails, not screws. But the nails were a little over 0.060" in diameter and about a half inch long. It appears the mounting holes in your plate have been widened. Do you think that is the case?
The Fender badges I am used to are 0.016" or 0.032" thick, so not "paper thin" as yours is. Was yours mounted to something made of plastic or metal?
You may find brass half round or domed nails and trim to length, or even domed wood screws. Or alternatively, you can affix the badge with plioBond or contact cement or double-sided tape if the mounting surface allows, and fake the mounting nails by trimming the heads off domed nails or screws, gluing them in place and only pretending they are holding the badge. _________________ Chris Lucker

Thanks for your reply, Chris.
The only provenance for the badge is I bought it from a FoBro, no questions asked. There is a clear plastic covering but I don't think it alters the color of the badge. The mounting holes do not appear to be widened. It came in a Fender sleeve so I don't think it was ever mounted or removed, just never used.
I don't have the tools to customize nails or screws and really don't want to glue it or literally hammer-on the guitar. I was hoping some one out there had a couple of loose screws.

Try your local hardware store (Ace Hardware, Do It Best, or whatever) ... they sell hardware by the piece in a variety of styles and materials. Just take the tag with you to make sure you get the right diameter. What you are looking for will cost next to nothing. |

Here is a brass version of the usual domed mounting nails Fender typically used on their amps and steel guitars. I don't know the size of the holes you have.
McMAster Carr
Decorative Finishing Nails
Also known as escutcheon pins, these nails have a domed head that sits above the surface. They are corrosion resistant.

Screw it! I went to Home Depot, bought an 8-pack of #4 x 3/8" Everbilt pan head Philips sheet metal screws for $1.47 and voila! I would have preferred gold or brass but wanted to mount the darn thing & get it over with.
