Bil Mitchell Adi/Maple OM - $1600 (REDUCED)
Bil Mitchell has been making fine instruments for years in Pennsylvania. This guitar is #385 and features a beautiful sunburst and striking flamed maple back and sides with a pretty Adirondack spruce top. It has a pickup installed, a 1 11/16" nut width, and is setup to play with a comfortable action.
The guitar shows some honest play wear (assorted scratches and dings on the top, as well as pick wear around the sound hole) and has 3 visible surface cracks on one side where the curve of the upper bout is most severe. They are not visible inside the guitar, have no movement, and appear to have been glued during construction. I’m guessing some of the figure “delaminated” during the bending of the sides and Bil just glued it back together at that time, though I can’t say for sure. This instrument is loud, with a brash, honky quality to the tone that reminds immediately of a vintage Gibson.
It would work well as an accompaniment instrument for a singer but has plenty of presence for flatpicking. Will ship to the continental US.
