Topic: Quarterman Resophonic Guitar Cone |

A quick question to the resophonic guitar gurus:
What is/are audio or visual indicators of a Quarterman cone for a spider bridge? In other words, how can I identify my resophonic cone?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Quarterman cones I've had were stamped JP Quarterman around the brass washer or nut that the tension screw goes in.
The Scheerhorn cones I have and have owned are not marked anywhere that I can find.
I'm not sure about the Beard cones.

The center, threaded rivet will be embossed/marked. "JP Quart" (or similar).
If an older Beard cone, it will be chemically etched on the side of the cone. If newer Beard, the center rivet will be embossed "Beard".

Jerry, Howard, thanks for your learned responses. I’m not sure what is my cone. I recently replaced it with a Beard “Legend” cone, Beard #14 spider and maple/ebony saddles. The old cone has no markings, but it appears to have been spun. When I tapped the edge it has a bell-like quality like the Beard, but in a slightly lower pitch. The guitar that I took it out of is a Regal RD40 that was likely made in the late 1980’s to early 1990’s.

If the cone is original to the guitar it was spun "over there"..!
