I just received a copy of Lloyd Maines new CD, Its great! Lots of great steel playing as you would expect but also some of his fine Dobro and guitar work. His grandkids are playing, singing and even wrote some of the music. Theres a song written by Terry Allen called Blood Lines that Lloyd sings with over 50 family members singing along. You can order it on his website, its a must have for any steel player or fan of the instrument. You can get it on CD or digitally. In full discloser, Lloyds a life time friend and for the last 25 years, my Brother in Law... I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Thanks for the tip Wally. A number of years ago I met Lloyd after a show he did here in Sonoma County with Terri Hendrix.

I had a gig earlier in the day and had my Clinesmith dobro in the car. We talked after the show and I brought the guitar backstage for Lloyd to try and he handed me his Gibson Dobro, so we jammed for several minutes.

He asked me what I thought of the Gibson - and I have played my share of mediocre Gibson Dobros after they bought the company in 1993, but Lloyd’s was really nice. It was a charcoal colored f-hole model, I think it might have been the Al Perkins signature model, but without the signature.

Not in the same league as my Clinesmith, but a fine guitar.

But the best part was being able to hang with Lloyd for a bit. A great musician and a heck of a nice guy!

Lloyd's solo on Joe Ely's "Because of the Wind" is one of my all time favorites.

Will be ordering mine today, Lloyd is the best, so cool to see him doing a recording, he is so underappreciated!

Same here, and I saw the song is on the CD as an instrumental.

Thanks for the bump Rose. I have been largely off-line most of the summer and only now catching up. Will get on the stick and order up a copy.
