I've waited longer than I should to share the story of Wayne
Morton , our most recent ex President of the OSGA. Wayne was
a hard working, dedicated Pres , in that his drive from Ada/
Tishomingo was aa real sacrifice in terms of time and money
particularly at todays fuel costs.

Here's a guy that just gets prettier with each passing day.
Going back a little , he's been on steel for 49 years now
{he started while just a 5 yr old kid} After working Virginia,
Florida, and Vegas , he moved to Music City for 3.5 yrs
where he allowed a fellow to room with him and share the
rent....I'd better not mention a name without having clearance
from Wayne . Let's just say that he is now a bonafide star,
of millionaire status.

The Choctaw Tribe bought and refurbished the McSwain Theater
in Ada...it's a real showplace, a total rehab top to bottom,
and Wayne has played Steel there for the last 30 year. Also,
the Pauls Valley Opry, a popular regional show , has Wayne
on steel. Saving the best to the last, Wayne shares his God
given talent with the folks at Ardmore Ok Rawhide Cowboy Church
each Sun and Wed.

Here is one of the premier veteran players that brings a lot
of fun to his incredible set . See him in Jenks Ok in a
tobacco free , alcohol free, parking free , admission free
{donations gladly accepted and appreciated} enviroment. Please
be at St James Presby Church , 11970 So Elm , Jenks {Tulsa}
on June 24 & 25 for the OSGA annual Convention just three {3}
weeks from now

b0b notes: Wayne Morton will be performing at the OSGA show in Jenk, OK, on June 25, 2022.

Wayne Morton is a great person and player. I'm so glad that I got to know Wayne back in the 80's. I remember going to a steel jam he put together in Tishomingo back when I first started learning the instrument. He was kind enough to invite me to play, and I didn't know didly squat about the instrument at that time. It was my first time to play with other steel players. I will always remember that jam. Thank you Wayne.

Wayne carried the load of keeping our club alive for several years. I played steel shows with Wayne for several years and learned about charts, progressions and technique. A great player, person and best of all, friend.

And all steel players stand in the shadow of his beauty.
He always tells us he's "getting prettier everyday.

I almost forgot.............

When our Jamboree was held at the Sequoyah Lodge in Wagoner, Robert Jones came to play the show with Rudy Osborn. When Robert brought his equipment into the hall, Wayne introduced himself to Robert. Now Robert has an extremely quick wit.
Wayne says, Hi I'm Wayne Morton. Robert replies, I'm Robert Jones, how are you? And Wayne says "I'm getting prettier everyday" And Robert replies "I'll bet you're looking forward to tomorrow" I thought I was going to die laughing. I've often wondered why Robert only came that one time with Rudy.

He couldn't believe how much I had improved overnight, so he never came back.
I would like to show him how much prettier I've become.

Wayne is one of the first Steel Guitarists and people that I met, when I first started playing the Oklahoma Steel Guitar Association Show several years ago. He's one of the nicest guys y'all will ever meet and a great Steel Guitarist! I'm honored to call him my friend!

Terry, Bring your sun glasses. The glow maybe a health hazard to the unprepared.
