brand new hard rock maple cabinet built by Henry… metal pedal stop bar was replaced with hard rock maple ( thank you Mike Scaggs) … flocking follows

Yes, this guitar was a basket case. Cabinet was warped and cracked or would never have even thought of building a cabinet. It was so warped, end plates didn’t fit. The amazing thing is, guitar showed very little signs of wear on changer but just filth, grime and grease. Guitar wasn’t playable at all, changer fingers locked up with crude. Don’t know how a guitar can get in that shape. In new pic, end plates aren’t fastened or any thing, just slide them on for looks to take pic. Had a set back in project few weeks back, table saw got my left thumb pretty bad but have started back on it couple days ago. Flocking is next and then will start putting together. We opted to put maple pedal stop bar forcouple reasons. Tone for one and weight the other. The iron pedal stop must weigh 5 lbs and the wood is supposed to sound better. The very early Emmons had wood so we opted wood on this one.

I know, me too , I don’t even remember how many trashed vintage steels Henry restored for me ( so far we probably saved around 10 vintage Emmons push pulls from ending up in a dumpster) , but this is the first one that needed a brand new cabinet … it is going to be fantastic Emmons again

I would say for looks only. Never heard anyone mention anything about sound whether flocked or not.

There must have been concerns about the impact of flocking on the tone or vibrations of an Emmons because early Emmons guitars had no flocking where endplates were in contact with the cabinet. In Late summer of 1964 Emmons started flocking where endplates fit with the two individual cabinet sections.
