Yo! Shipping a steel guitar via UPS or Fedex has been really pricey lately, but I shipped a 73 lb Mullen box to San Francisco from Seattle today for $108.00 3 day delivery.
Just a heads up. Hope this is not the wrong header.
Its almost cheaper to ship your (road) guitar across country via ground than it is to check it.
Check out my cousin Cody Wickline...Hes the real deal. _________________ Tab Tabscott

That's a deal.
Last time I shipped a guitar (probably 4-5 years ago) and it was over $180 for a D10 PP. |

Just a warning to you guys thinking of shipping with UPS
It may be cheap but the guitar may arrive at its destination in PIECES….
And they don’t stand behind the insurance you buy from them…
it happened to me and I will never use UPS again!
I have used FedEx with no problem and recommend them instead. |

With UPS and FedEx I have found it is much less expensive if you pack the instrument yourself and ship from their locations (UPS Store // FedEx-Kinkos). Getting the shippers to pick it up from your residence adds a lot to the cost. |

Last couple years I've downsized and sold a lot of equipment. I compare prices and in every case UPS was less than FedEx and sometimes less than Post office. But shipping prices are all very expensive. I mailed a CD, in a padded envelope, yesterday and it was $4.70.
Mid December 2021, I bought a new GFI steel from Billy Cooper's. I was in a bind and needed the steel for a job the next week (I sold the D-10 I had so I was without a steel).
FedEx two day guaranteed was $200 and regular ground was $125. I went with the $200 two day and glad I did. The guitar arrived on time and the cardboard box didn't have a scratch on it (neither did the guitar or case). _________________ GFI Ultra Keyless S-10 with pad (Black of course) TB202 amp, Hilton VP, Steelers Choice sidekick seat, SIT Strings

Remember - FedEx and UPR do not have any insurance responsibility if you ship it thru a 'Mailboxes Are Us' or similar facility no matter how much it's insured for. It isn't until an actual driver/agent of FedEx or UPS actually takes possession of the package. The intermediate guy has no legal responsibility for the package. If you check in a guitar to one of those places and that night the place burns down, you're SOL!!! A guy that runs one of those outfits told me that up front. There is no legal liability until it is checked in by an official of FedEx or UPS. Best to have it picked up by a driver or best yet, take it directly to the nearest terminal in person. You'll always be handed a receipt with the time and date stamped on it. The insurance takes effect right then and there.

UPS is by far the worst to trust with your axe
There is a better than 50% chance it will arrive in pieces
If you must ship use FedEx! |

Luckily, I have never had a PSG I bought or shipped with UPS or Fedex get damaged. Probaly a dozen or so. But I did have an amp I bought (new from a dealer) damaged fairly bad by Fedex. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, NV400, NV112 . I shipped a guitar via FedEx and it was damaged.
I insured it for the full value and I had to take them to small claims court to get paid for the guitar.
They always come with the excuse: "that wasn't insurance, that was declared value".
The judge said: "I'll determine that". She determined it WAS insurance and I got paid for the guitar.

Glad you got the money but you shouldn’t have had to take them to court!…They should have paid for the guitar up front because you paid for the insurance! period! |

Expect freight rates to keep going up. USPS just announced an upcoming increase.
If you've been debating buying something you want, you might want to go now before prices increase and freight hikes are implemented. |

If you're shipping photos, records, books, magazines, tapes, or CD's via the U.S.P.S., boldly mark the package "MEDIA MAIL" and you will save up to 50%, but it may take a few days longer to arrive. I use Media Mail all the time to ship my books, records, and my CD's. |
