I'm pleased to announce that J D Sauser has accepted the position as moderator of the Builders' Corner. An email from J D provided the final push to create this section. His argument - that builders' topic get lost too easily in the Pedal Steel and Steel Without Pedals sections - made a lot of sense to me. There's also the fact that other sites dedicated exclusively to building steel guitars have failed to gain traction.

J D Sauser has been a member of The Steel Guitar Forum since 1998. He knows what it's all about. He has strong opinions, but don't we all! I trust his judgement and his ability to help keep the conversations civil here in the Builders' Corner.

Welcome and thank you very much, J D. Very Happy

Thanks B0b... I hope I am up to the trust I have just received from you.

You have done so much for us all, I could hardly say no.

Yes, we all have "strong" opinions because that's what opinions are designed to be. Nobody ever got commended for their "soft"-opinions.
But this Forum has evolved tremendously over the last quarter Century.
I remember insults and even death wishes to be quite common 20 years ago.
We all had to learn to handle this new way of communicating and sharing our "opinions", and most of all, that on the Internet you CANNOT win and argument if the other party has an even stronger opinion. We've learn to "let it be", "walk" or "turn away".
Had it been 20 years ago, I had said "HELL NO, I am not a Firefighter!".
Today, it's different. I too have "poured water into my vine" (as my mother would put it.

So, let's build a little "virtual" guitar. The Forum-Guitar. If she comes to sing some day or not, it will be another legacy this Forum leaves for the future.
Maybe someone picks up on the ideas shared here, maybe we revolutionize the way steel guitars will be build in the future, maybe we just become the laughing stock for crazy "Back To The Future" ideas.

Be gentle, be courteous, educated and most of all accept that opinions and believes are better proven right by demonstration than by debate. Building an instrument, even just in thin virtual air, specially such a mechanical one, is a lot about physics.

Thanks! And now lets get "cranking"!... J-D.

Before someone bring it up, I feel I need to clarify something.
Evidently, I was one who asked B0b for this Forum sub-section.
I did, not only because of greater thinking, but because I am VERY interested in the subject of designing and building steel guitars.

As one can see, as soon as B0b opened the section, I jumped right into it like a duck into the lake.
But this is NOT "my" Forum.
Yes, I do initiate a slew of topics and answer in my known opinionated manner quite "actively". But this as a fellow Forumite, just I have done in the past on other sections of the Forum as subjects became of interest to me or I felt I could share something, NOT as "the" moderator.

I just don't want people to feel that I act like I own this place or something, this is B0b's Forum and he lets us use it. I am just one of the may users like everybody else and hope not the be seen as an "ab"-user.
My posted opinions or ideas should never be seen as those of "the moderator".

Thanks!... J-D.

Thanks Daniel.
I didn't exactly "come up with the idea", apparently this had been suggested before. Thanks!... J-D.

Congratulations, JD! I'm probably not going to be able to use most of what's discussed here, but I'm glad it's here.
