Anybody have a Sho-Bud crossover (or most of one) they don't mind parting with? It can be in rough shape and does not need to be playable--just looking for one that has most/all of the parts.

Thanks!

Was that model a success? Did it work well? Did they make many? Just curious.

Ian,
Not really--in fact, it's more or less the black sheep of the Sho-Bud lineup, mostly because they were heavy and the "crossover" mechanism was fussy. That said, Pete Drake's "Goldie" was a Crossover, so obviously the model's drawbacks didn't keep it from being one of the most recorded steel guitars in history. I'd like one to restore and tinker with. I'm an engineer by trade and would like a platform to try some mechanical ideas on, and they're nothing if not sturdy.

Stu,

Sorry for the delayed response; I just responded to your email. I appreciate you reaching out!

I put Stu on to this. He had been working on getting this Alaska guitar over here last year for me to work on (for him) -- probably ditch the crossover and convert it into a smooth SD-10 -- but the brutal shipping $$ of the heavy beast killed the plan. Hope you can work this out. One thing for sure -- they are some gorgeous guitars.
