The new season is set in Austin, and the first episode features the Broken Spoke. There’s some really nice steel playing throughout the show, anyone know who played on it? Thanks!

Did you see a steel player actually playing in the scenes of the show?? What you are hearing are recordings NOT OF THE SHOW; just recordings they they put in soundtrack; as that is done all the time....I do it all the time...>but I did NOT play "On the show"; or "in the movie" ...etc.
You will have to be more specific in a song or video of the section you are inquiring about in the soundtrack; then I can tell you if it was ME or probably tell you who it is; but no way of knowing; as It was not recorded on a show and again; many times I record musical sections for a soundtrack that I have NO idea what show or movie it is going on. It is ONLY when I score a scene; like I did on several scenes in "Bernie" I had to see the action and play to that feel of what was going on in the scene. (hope all that makes sense??)

Ricky, I loved hearing your great parts in Bernie. Linklater is a master!

It was very hard to tell if the background music in Queer Eye was parts of a song or specifically recorded. I figured someone here might be the person who'd know...

Thanks Marc for the supportive words. As far as the TV show you're talking about; I can't help as I don't have a TV. If you find a clip of what you are inquiring about I can maybe help more.

If the music doesn't sync to anything on screen there's a good chance it's licensed from a production library of stock music. For players this is uncredited work and pays once, no matter how many times the track is used. A better deal for the writer/producers though.

I just watched the episode with my wife and daughters and didn't really notice any steel except in the background once in a while.

Ricky, Next time you are at the Spoke with Weldon, tell Terry she looks terrific, it was a really good episode of that show.
