From the 2004 Choo Choo Reunion, Chattanooga, TN USA
AUDIO ONLY

Randy was playing his D10 Zumsteel through 2 of my Peavey Nashville 112 amplifiers
Miked with Peavey PVM22 Microphone into Peavey Mark IV 24 channel mixer.
Recorded direct to Tascam CD-RW700 CD Recorder

We have far too little audio/video of Randy, so enjoy one of the true greats of steel guitar.

Bill, You said it right about Randy being one of the true greats of steel guitar. Randy Beaver is also a 1st class gentleman and willing to answer any question a steel player might have. Thanks for posting.

When I was in college starting in 1975, I used to take young ladies to the Chattanooga Choo Choo restaurant in the old terminal building which, as it turns out, had just been renovated and opened. All around the terminal the area was subject to urban renewal but the terminal had been saved. They'd moved passenger sleeper coaches under the train sheds so you could stay overnight and had converted the freight sheds into an outdoor boutique shopping place. I understand some of the coaches are still operated there. My lovely wife and I enjoyed the place while we were dating.

Bill Ferguson -

Many thanks for continuing to post these fantastic past performances of our steel guitar heroes.
Randy Beavers is a Master.

Ron Elliot once told me that a good way to learn the E9th scale (and corresponding scale tones) was to learn J.S. Bach's 1711 composition entitled "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire."

Randy does a meticulous demonstration beginning at 17:11 into this performance.

If only us mere mortals could do the same thing!

Thanks Bill,
Ron
