National Resophonic Lap Steel w/ Charlie Christian pickup

Anyone ever seen one of these? A friend of a friend has one he might want to sell. Sounds great except for an exaggerated 60 humâ€¦is that something that a rewind or other repair would help? The CC pickup has a very healthy output, the hum is the only issue.
Also trying to get a rough idea of the value, I want to offer a fair price, taking into consideration that I may have to replace or repair the pickup. Thanks in advance!

It's a '50s Model 1033 with the coverplate replaced by a '30s Silvo one, with the pickup, knobs, tailpiece and hand rest changed.

Given that it's a highly modified old guitar, it's as likely as not to be something simple like ungrounded strings. It looks really neat, I like it.
