My pedal steel, like many, does not have volume and tone pots. Also, I have an older lap steel with only a volume, no tone.
Without modifying the guitar itself, is there a small box I can use with an input and output, that can preferably mount to let my hand have access to them? And just connect it to the guitars output jack? (I am not looking for a foot pedal that does this)
Thanks

With your lap steel, it should be relatively simple to swap out the existing volume pot for a dual concentric pot and a tone cap.
I've installed these Fender-branded pots from CTS in a handful of lap steels with excellent results. |

I think some versions of the Goodrich Matchbox have volume and tone controls. Clips to the leg though, not jack. |

Is there a wiring diagram for the dual concentric pot and capacitor?
thanks

Any volume and tone circuit for electric guitar should work. Pick one,put it in a box and mount it any way you want. _________________ ShoBud Pro 1, 75 Tele, 85 Yamaha SA 2000, Fender Cybertwin, |

I built a guitar-style tone control in a small Hammond box years ago. It’s always plugged in, and I adjust it constantly! Huge upgrade over a Goodrich for my setup, which is pot pedlars into tube amp. |

I have one of these. It was originally made for acoustic guitars but generally works for any instrument with a 1/4" output jack. Passive, no batteries. Out of production, hard to find. |

Absolute easiest solution... ...although obviously not the 'best'.....
Put one of these on the end of your guitar cable !
