Hey guys, how do you read the ohms on a Bill Lawerence pup with 4 wires. Black, red, white and green? Thanks |

Thanks Georg, unfortunately my wire colors are different than the chart and I am still confused. |

Dale, try hitting up forum member David Higginbotham. He's installed several of those original chrome pups over the years. Or maybe Jack Stoner. |

Don't have an answer about measuring ohms, but on every BL pickup I have had, the black wire is ground, white is hot, red is used to wire in a spst switch to split the coils and turn it into a single coil. The switch is then wired to ground. Not sure about the green wire as none of the BL pickups I have used (6-710s with black and white wires, 2-XR16s with black, white and red wires, none had a green wire), but since it is wired together with the red wire, it might be a coil tap for the other coil. With both the red and green wires, you might be able to choose which coil you want to use in the single coil mode. You would just use red OR green. Not positive on the green wire.
I would imagine you just stick a meter on the black and white wires to get an ohms reading. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, NV400, NV112 . Playing for 54 years and still counting. |
