I've been tasked with repairing a push button neck selector switch as one neck isn't working and I'm having a tough time seeing the difference between the one that works and the one that isn't. Any help would be appreciated.

Here are a couple of posts about the push button switch that might be helpful.

Those switches drive me crazy! I've taken them apart, totally sanded and cleaned them and sprayed them with deoxit, and tried to make sure every bend in the metal was just right. All of those things worked temporarily. For some reason, if you spin the button around a little it helps find a sweet spot, which temporarily helps. If you figure out a permanent solution, let me know! I've thought about rewiring with mini-toggle switches, but I can't find any small enough to fit in the holes without drilling.

Thanks so much for the replies. It turns out that the insulator plate made of thin cardboard/thick paper had worn through where the push button selector hit it shorting it out.

Best I recall those were cable systems on automotive applications. Even the heater controls on old Fords were cable push button. I worked on quite a few in my occupation as a auto tech.
