I have have this older 1501-4 in my LTD 400 and love everything about it, save its weight:
A while back I acquired this Peavey neo magnet:
My question: Is there any trick to swapping the mags? Or is it simply a matter of unbolting the old one, pulling it out, inserting the neo, and replacing the bolts? Are there any potential issues I should be aware of before I actually do the deed? |

Sorry, I do not. It's my understanding that, unfortunately, they're no longer being manufactured. When the one I have became available a year or so back on this Forum, I immediately pulled the trigger. |

Just did one Jack. The procedure is the same for both magnets. Just be careful not to damage the voice coil.
You can use these on any BW basket except for the first gen Spider Webs.
Here's a sheet from Peavey for the procedure. Do it already!
Karl, these are not available any more through the company. You'd have to find a NOS somewere or maybe a used one but they're scarce. Here's the part # though if you want to scratch around. #00560870. |

| Thanks, Jerry! I have a new MOD reverb tank and bag on order for my '77 LTD 400. Will likely take your advise and swap out magnets once everything has been delivered. |

My favorite reverb is my old Van Amps Sole-Mate that has a MOD tank inside. Supposedly the same tank FMIC used in their Blues Juniors. If the new tank in my LTD even comes close, I'll be mildly ecstatic. I love everything about the LTD aside from its weight and its noisy, weak 'verb.

I have no experience with the Reno amp, but I assume it has the same Accutronics unit as in other Peavey amps.
My experience with the MOD pan is that it is more lush and has more, for a lack of a better term, presence.

| It's the 9EB2C1B model MOD tank that I ordered, on the recommendations of Ken Fox, Tommy White, and others. I'll report back with my impressions on both the reverb tank and the neo magnet installations, once they've been installed in my old LTD 400. |

Answer to 1st question: yes, it fits the factory bag. The unit is basically the same physical size as the ACCU unit.
I really can't answer your 2nd question. Perhaps Ken Fox has some input.
Someone else here may have some experience with the 3 spring long decay unit that may also give you some answers.
I replaced with the medium 2 spring unit because that was what was recommended by players here and I was under the impression that it more closely matched up with the original unit.
The 3C1B appears to have the equivalent electrical specs except it states it's a long decay unit so I dunno. |

| Just finished swapping out the magnets on my Black Widow. Easy-peasy; no big whoop. Sounds the same to my decrepit old ears. Saved less than five pounds, however. Not worth the expense, in my opinion. I'd never do it again. My old LTD 400 is still one heavy SOB. |

I recently bought a 2nd hand Nashville 400 which has no reverb tank, or tank cover at all ...I'm assuming it was taken out and never replaced.
Will the 9EB2C1B model MOD tank fit a Nashville 400 ??? and does it come with the RCA cables ??

The tank will work but you need a Peavey reverb cable that has the 5 pin Molex connector
