Thanks Larry,
To be fair I didn't actually duplicate anything. Just cut off parts of another logo and did a bit of filling and sanding. I am proud of the "y" though as the part I replaced it with was actually from the tail of the "P" of the other logo, but I got it to line up pretty well.

Here it is with silver added laying on top of the Horn cavity.

Unfortunately, the silver paint marker -which went on quite smooth- seems to have not dried. Perhaps it might have interacted with the earlier layers of spray paint (3 black, 3 matte varnish). Will give it a day or so to off-gas and dry out before I break out the mineral spirits and try a different silver.

And it's done!

Removed the non-drying silver art marker with rubbing alcohol and used a silver sharpie instead. Up close you can tell it's not original aluminum finish but from a couple feet away it looks like a factory logo.

Total vanity upgrade to remove a near-weightless disconnected horn because I didn't like the look, but I just like the amp better now.

Speaking of vanity upgrades, it now has the chrome hardware swapped in from a TKO 65 (except for the back lower corners which are still black). The chrome is more of a dull brushed metal after I gave it a vinegar and brilo treatment for rust, but the it looks good to me and actually matches the aluminum grill edges better now.

No updates to the Amp. Just posting a couple pics to this thread so I can refer to them later if needed. This forum will probably outlast my current computer.

Looking downward from top of amp.

Rehearsal report footnote to this saga.

Have now had the Reno at two basement rehearsals with my Acoustic/Upright/PSG trio. I am very impressed. Of course I'm not pushing it at all, but it sounds very good. I've got a tone dialed in that I like and the reverb sounds good also. As noted earlier I'm using input 2, bright switch is engaged (pulled out) and I've removed the horns.

Definitely money well spent I think. Probably worth the $200 they seem to be asking online, but at that price, I'd wait and drop $300 for a Nashville 400 instead. I can't think of anything that would sound as good for steel for the $100 I paid for this.

Will probably mod/MOD the reverb tank and do a chip swap at some point just to try my hand at these relatively cheap modifications but as it stands I really am pleased at how well this odd "Acoustic Electric Instrument System" sounds for Pedal Steel. For home practice and gigging I've got the Milkman Half and Half but as long as I had a handcart I'd gig this thing confidently from a sonic perspective.

The Saga continues.
I recently picked up a Vegas 400 so I brought it to rehearsal to A/B against the Reno. The Reno blew it away!

The Vegas didn't sound bad and I hadn't felt the tone was lacking when I tested it before purchase but after hearing it next to the Reno I now feel that maybe it needs some servicing to get in tip-top shape.
I was just very impressed with the highs (Horn has been removed) and richness of the Reno.

I left both amps where we rehearse and I'll give the Vegas another try next practice in two weeks. The Vegas has ALOT more miles on it and I do think the reverb tank on the needs to be replaced, but that's small potatoes. I think the Reno is here to stay and the decision will be whether to flip the Vegas or to take it in to the shop for servicing. Flipping the Vegas as-is wouldn't be a loss as I'm sure I could get my money back, but it also seems like this might be an amp worth investing a bit of cash into.

One last thought, I thought I recall there was mention somewhere that the Scorpion might be a speaker that functions better at lower volumes than the BW. Could that be at play here? It's me on PSG, an unamplified double bassist and a singer/guitarist just barely using an amp for vocals/guitar so we're practicing at quite low volumes.

The Saga continues...
Sold the underwhelming Vegas. Then bought another Vegas that was better, but bigger than I wanted to mess with so I sold that too.

This week I picked up a Peavey Jazz Classic cab minus the chassis locally from Paul Wade. It has a BW 1502 in it.

Before

After

I'll probably block up the opening on the original Reno cab and use it with my Ampeg Portabass 250 for playing with stereo effects at home.

Attached the Reno upper back plate since it corresponds to the chassis

Really happy with the way it sounds. It's cleaner and warmer than before. This will be my rehearsal space and backup amp.

Going to throw a request out there. If someone has an extra Peavey logo to complete the look I'd be very interested. The logo on the Reno cab is pieced together from broken bits and permanently glued to that black plate so I can't use it here.

Scored a metal logo. Looks much better now.

MOD reverb tank is on the way.

In the mean time, I'm thinking of a clever name for this combo that is functionally the same as an early 1502-loaded Nashville, but cobbled together from various sources. Possible names under consideration:
- Renoville
- Ren-O-Nash
- Nasheno

Thoughts or suggestions welcome.

That's the one I'm leaving towards most, but I just thought of another.
El NasheReno.

With the RenoNash now my at my guitarists home for rehearsals, what to do though with the loaded Reno Cab?
Over the last couple months I've been scouring Craigslist and also looking at new power amps and lightweight bass heads. However this week a member hooked me up with this Special 150 chassis and reverb tank.

Installed in the Reno cab and this is the result!

It's not quite the sonic equal on steel of the Reno or the RenoNash but its not far off and more than good enough for playing with stereo effects and for visiting guitarists. It's freaking loud too. I wonder if the 15" Scorpion might be better suited to this 150 watt amp than the 12" it came with.
Pots are dead quiet, and I'm impressed and mildly annoyed that the reverb is notably less noisy than on the RenoNash.

Tomorrow I'll A/B it vs the Milkman, experiment with an EQ pedal for mid-range control and try it with bass.
