Now that Paul's West Coast Country course has been launched, we can finally reveal this surprise for those holding tickets to the Camp!

Someone attending the Camp will be leaving with the fantastic Little Walter amp head that Paul used on "Bakersfield" and dozens of other recordings and gigs.

Wish I could be in attendance, I'm missing the big one, but the cost factor for me just too much, I'm retired and live on a fix budget.

I added up the cost for an entire 3 day stay, it was well over $1,300-1,500. Air, Hotels, Transportation, Meals, the admission fee and a Nashville T-Shirt.

Back 30 years ago the Pedal Steel Guitar Association in November of each year, would have big name steel players, Emmons, Rugg, Hughey, Franklin, Newman, Scotty, Wallace etc., The cost for the Sunday was $25.00 the show went from 12 noon till 7 pm.

I know times have changed, cost of entertainment has gone up.

Guys, enjoy this one, it's a steel guitar history maker.

Dear Friends, just in case anyone is interested, there are now room available at the Lodge for the weekend. You won't get the special steel guitar camp rate but they are available. Apparently another group booking backed out. (They must have heard that a horde of steel guitar fanatics was descending on Montgomery Bell State Park! Smile Can't wait to see everyone!

I think with the upsurge in Covid .... Many will be concerned about sitting in a room full of people. A legitimate concern.

A large wedding party had booked rooms there as "place-holders", but not the actual wedding event. We were told months ago to expect that they may possibly cancel their block and rooms would be available, but not at the special rate.

All Covid protocol requirements for TN State Parks will be adhered to, as we've noted since the announcement of the Camp.

Hey, all. I’m planning on driving into Nashville from St. Louis & arriving between noon and one on Friday. My plan is to visit Johnie King & try out a few guitars before heading to the Lodge. If needed, I can provide a lift from the airport around that timeframe, with a stopover at Johnie’s on the way. If anyone is looking for transport from the airport around that time, pm or email me. I drive an FJ Cruiser & can accommodate 3 passengers and their luggage/ gear.

Had an amazing weekend hanging out with all my steel guitar heros. First class people.
Thank you to all who attended the workshop Mr Dahl and I put on. If anyone would like the handout I prepared please message me with your email and I will send it to you.

Cheers

Best line of the weekend: Doug Jernigan, on playing a recent steel show with Paul Franklin and Tommy White: " I tried to give those boys a spankin' but they just wouldn't take it!" Laughing

The lineup was truly incredible, with perhaps more emphasis on teaching than the classic Scotty's shows. We were fortunate to be able to feature many of the Nashville recording and TV legends this first year.

There are so many more great players here and around the world that we hope can join us in the years to come.
