check out cloud ribbon mics by rodger cloud, designed and built in tucson az. with an rca heritage as mr. sank had a hand in the designs. also check out the cloudlifter with 25 db of clean boost for your existing ribbon or condenser microphones. real high quality recording gear made in the usa.

I've played a bunch of gigs now with the AT4081 ribbon mic, including 3 or 4 outdoor gigs. It's never given me a bit of trouble. It's an active mic so it runs on phantom power and does not need an external preamp.

The last couple gigs I talked the soundman into giving me a second channel on the board so I now have a Sennheiser e609 dynamic mic also on the speaker cabinet. The soundman loves it and says the dual mic set up makes my steel sound "huge". He pans the ribbon a bit to one side and the dynamic a bit to the other. I mentioned going back to just one mic and he immediately said no, he wants both mics.
