I've played a bunch of gigs now with the AT4081 ribbon mic, including 3 or 4 outdoor gigs. It's never given me a bit of trouble. It's an active mic so it runs on phantom power and does not need an external preamp.
The last couple gigs I talked the soundman into giving me a second channel on the board so I now have a Sennheiser e609 dynamic mic also on the speaker cabinet. The soundman loves it and says the dual mic set up makes my steel sound "huge". He pans the ribbon a bit to one side and the dynamic a bit to the other. I mentioned going back to just one mic and he immediately said no, he wants both mics. _________________ It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. |
