I don't know about most valuable or rarest, but there are only 18 "new" Sierra steels in the world at the moment, more are currently being built, but Sierra is a one man show (me) and I make everything that goes into building them*. Given the fact that I can only build so many and a price that is higher than most other brands, they will always be pretty rare.

There's no hidden secrets to these guitars, just thoughtful design, careful manufacturing, attention to detail/player's needs...and my love of building them.

To learn most all there is to know about them...check out the following links:

24 minute tour of a Sierra (big thanks to forumite Memphisslim): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PieN4MnJ7Go

"Makin' Chips" videos, see the shop, big machines, aluminum chips flying and my pig Arva! Here'a link to one of many https://youtu.be/wMC_h8i-9iw

Sierra website: www.sierrasteels.com

Of course the Sierra thread here on the forum has lot's of info, pics and discussion.

*(except fasteners, strings, pickups, helper and return springs)

I think you mean www.sierrasteels.com. On my browser www.sierrasteel.com points to a review of the "Top 10 Air Purifiers & Best Air Filters" Winking

That Bud’s been on Ebay as well. The owner gets a little bent outa shape if you message him asking about the astronomical figure 😂

I also think that rarest doesn’t always = value. Some items were rare because they didn’t sell. That doesn’t make them more valuable.

I’d love to try a new Sierra or a amp anapeg, but they are so rare, I’ll likely not get the chance. It’s difficult to asses. On something where so few were built, they don’t change hands enough to peg a value.

I think the Bigsby , wrap, and Franklin qualify. Maybe down the road, we may look at Infinity, Zum Hybrids, and Fulawka as collectable /rare / valuable. just guessing here.

The idea of a single guitar being famous for who played it is a whole nother issue. I’d add the Gibson Don Helms recorded on with Hank to the list.

Perhaps the steel that Tom Brumley used to cut "Together Again"

Wonder where that specific steel might be?

I’m pretty sure the original album version was a Fender 1000....

The instrument that Moon purportedly buried in the desert is likely fairly rare and somewhat valuable, at least to some folks.

I think that was the Fender that was deliberately damaged (they describe cutting a few strings as a heinous crime) but you can buy Brumley's ZB:
